David Thompson

Director of Equity and Inclusion

BA Lehigh University

2023-present

David previously served as the director of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) at The Bishop’s School, a grades six through twelve Episcopal day school in La Jolla, California, where he spent ten years, first as a college counselor. At Bishop’s, David built affinity programming, a DEIJ curriculum, and developed an annual conference on inclusion and equity for students, faculty and staff, and caregivers in the region with the Regional Student Diversity Summit (RSDS). He is from the Philadelphia area and the son of a retired city police officer and a school secretary. David received his BA from Lehigh University, where he studied psychology, sociology, and religion. After working at a local Boys and Girls Club, directing its teen center and programming for gang-affiliated and at-risk youth, he spent six years in undergraduate college admissions. In May, David will graduate with a Master’s in Education leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. As an activist, he has opened doors for Queer, Trans, Black, and Indigenous People of Color (QTBIPOC) communities and served as the cochair of the San Diego Pride’s board of directors. He is an avid reader and James Baldwin enthusiast who seeks podcast and show recommendations. David enjoys being outside gardening, hiking, and camping; discussing hip hop’s role in today’s youth; and spending time with his dog, Millie.
