Michael learned chess from his Malaysian classmates at St. Joseph’s Institution in Singapore. He enjoyed studying and analyzing chess endgames and was particularly fascinated by corresponding squares. Currently, Michael is more interested in the ways in which technology can be used to amplify our ability to learn, explore, and collaboratively do mathematics. Michael is a Gröbner basis fan. Although he feels most at home with the computer algebra system Mathematica, he prefers to compute Gröbner bases with SageMath.
