Rainu is the senior associate dean for clinical research, chair of the Department of Population Health Sciences, and the Nanette Laitman Distinguished Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine. She also serves as the physician-in-chief of population health sciences at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She completed all of her education and training at Harvard University and stayed on as a faculty member for nearly a decade. A distinguished information scientist and public health expert, she leads Weill Cornell Medicine’s clinical research enterprise, bridging cutting-edge science to patients. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. Rainu is a committed educator and has established four master’s programs and a doctoral program with 200 students matriculating annually. She has been a member of the Trinity Fund Committee and the Safety Patrol Committee. She currently serves as a member of Trinity’s COVID-19 medical advisory team. Rainu and her spouse, Sekhar Upadhyayula, are parents to twins, Achintha ’31 and Amartha ’31.
